Sitges Film FestivalThe full name of this film festival is the "SITGES 12 - International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia." It is one of Spain's oldest film festivals which dates back to 1968. Today the SITGES Film Festival is considered the leading fantasy film festival in the world and is now in its 45th year. The 2012 festival welcomes the very best current Asian cinema. Highlights of the Sitges Film Festival include the Grand Honorary Award which is presented at the Sitges Film Festival opening gala. Catalan movie "El Cuerpo" (The Body) opens the festival in 2012 Auditori on 4/10 at 19:00. El Cuerpo is director Oriol Paulo’s feature film debut and stars José Coronado, Belén Rueda, Hugo Silva and Aura Garrido. Also immensely festival highlight popular is the traditional Sitges Zombie Walk through streets of Sitges which is next week on Friday 12th October 2012. How to get to Sitges from Barcelona

Sitges is a popular and exclusive sea-side resort located about 45 kilometers south of Barcelona in Catalonia, Spain. It is well known for the Sitges Film Festival in October and the Sitges Carnival in February. Sitges also offers visitors a nice selection of beaches, nightspots, and historical sites.

Getting to Sitges from Barcelona

car  By car
The C-32 tollroad (before A-16) connects Sitges with Barcelona in 30 minutes. You can also take the free coastal road, which is very scenic but has many bends, so passengers can become car sick!

 Bus company Mon-bus operates buses from Barcelona and from Barcelona airport to Sitges

tr  By train
Sitges is under between 35 and 45 minutes from Barcelona by R2 south line train. The railway company is called Renfe. The trains connections are called Cercanias/Rodalies: The trains to Sitges are on the R2 south line which departs from stations in the center of Barcelona to outlying suberbs of Barcelona and towns nearby. Regional trains to Sitges leave every 15 minutes from various stations in Barcelona including Passeig de Gracia (currently undergoing renovation), Catalunya or Sants: Price for a return ticket around 8 euros. (2011 prices )
