Where to go on New Years Eve in Barcelona. Barcelona New Year 2015. Celebrate 2015/2016 New Year in Barcelona at the official Barcelona New Years Eve event called the Barcelona New Year Chimes celebration / Celebración de Fin de Año en las Fonts de Montjuïc. The Barcelona New Year celebration takes place at the Font Màgica de Montjuïc (Magic Fountain of Montjuïc) near Plaza Espanya. There will be music from 9.30pm and the New Year show itself starts at 11.30pm and lasts 45 minutes. The Barcelona New Year celebrations is a public family event and free and open to everyone. The celebration will consist of a main stage with two big screens for the countdown and then a firework display at midnight. The Barcelona New Year show event features traditonal human tower building, concerts, music and fireworks combined with the Magic Fountain light and water display. In previous years there was a show by La Fura dels Baus Catalan theatrical group with a huge 15 metre iron man sculpture called "l'Ésser del Mil·lenni" - Millennium soul but this will not be part of the New Year celebration in Barcelona for 2015.
IMPORTANT: This event is free and everyone arriving from 22.30 onwards will get a free bag of 12 grapes to eat as the chimes countdown to the New Year. Alcohol is not on sale and glass bottles and glasses are not permitted in the spectators area. There will be entrance checks to make sure that bottle and glass containers will not be admitted. Please note that this is a New Year Celebration event and not a party. It is recommend that you arrive by metro to station Espanya - lines 1 & 3

How to get to Magic Fountain in Barcelona
Font Mágica de Montjuïc Barcelona. Magic fountain of Montjuic. The Magic Fountain in Barcelona is at the foot of Montjuic hill in Barcelona on the Plaça de Carles Buïgas, 08038, Barcelona, Spain, which is at the end of the avenue Avinguda Reina Maria Cristina close to Plaça d'Espanya. The nearest metro station to the Magic Fountain is metro station Espanya. The Barcelona Magic Fountaing is in the Fira Montjuïc exhibition area. Access is free all day but please note that the fountain only operates at certain times. In the evenings on certain days there is a continuous light, water and music display which is one of Barcelona's biggest attractions. See how to get to the Magic Fountain further down this page. The Magic Fountain is about 10 minutes from the Plaza Catalunya in the very centre of Barcelona by car or taxi. By metro the Magic Fountain is four stations from Plaza Catalunya.
