Todos los Santos - Tots Sants 2013
Event date: Friday 1st November 2013
Event location:
Public holiday in all Spain, Catalunya and Barcelona

Fiesta de Todos los Santos. All Saints' Day Barcelona. Tot Sants. Public holiday in Spain and Barcelona. The day after Halloween is 1st November which is always a public holiday in Spain called "Tots Sants" in Catalan and "Todos los Santos" in Spanish.  In Catalunya you can also enjoy the Catalan tradition of La Castanyada on All Saints Day. In Spain it is a tradition on all Saints' Day to attend church services in honor of Catholic saints and martyrs and to visit family graves to place flowers, lay wreaths and light candles. The cemeteries in Barcelona usually have longer opening hours during Halloween weekend from 08.00 until 18.00. There are special flower stalls at the cemetary gates and special bus services in the days up to and on All Saints day to the Montjuic and Poblenou cemeteries. In 2013 the Barcelona Cemeteries association (CBSA) plans to open the Montjuic cemetery museum and its collection of funeral carriages. At Poblenou cemetery in Sant Marti district of Barcelona,  there is usually a partial performance of the play Don Juan Tenorio by Jose Zorrilla in the days before 1st November. Don Juan Tenorio features scenes with tombs and ghosts and is traditionally performed in Spanish theatres on All Saints Day. Shops and shopping. Shops are closed on Tots Sants in Barcelona, but tourist shops, cinemas, tourist attractions, convenience stores and restaurants are open on All Saints.
