History:
The Jean Bouin run was started in Barcelona in 1920 by three journalists and sports promoters who were passionate about athletics. They were Josep Anton Trabal, Lluís Meléndez and Rossend Calvet. They named their new running event after the legendary French athlete, Jean Bouin, who was runner-up in the Stockholm Olympics of 1912. Jean Bouin held various world records between 1911 and 1913 before being killed in action during World War One.
