Barcelona's talking Go Cars!

A Go Car tour  is one of the most fun ways to see Barcelona. See how it works and book your Go Car tour online.

Book here

The Go Car tour is basically a cute little 2-seater, 3-wheeler yellow buggy car built over a 49 cc scooter engine. And it talks! The Go Car has a built-in GPS guided audio system, so your Go Car is being tracked by satellite all the time so you can't get lost. The Go Car does all the navigation and you just listen to your Go Car and follow the driving instructions that come out of two big loudspeakers. Your Gocar will also tell you stories and tips about Barcelona sights.

The Go Car is very  easy to drive with an automatic gearbox, so you only have to accelerate and brake using the handle and levers. There are no foot controls, just left and right handle controls to accelerate and brake.

Before you leave the Go Car staff will give you a full vehicle briefing, so that you are comfortable with all the controls. On our test we headed out onto Via Laietana in the rush hour where was lots of traffic, but we felt at ease within minutes. The top speed of a Go Car is only 45 km/h, which is very safe for driving.  A tip for safe driving in Barcelona is just stay in your lane and before you change lane, make sure to check your mirrors and look back to be absolutely sure you can change. The cars and buses will probably slow down to get a good look at you and your cool GoCar, so there is plenty of time to change lanes and make turns.  If you miss a turn your Go Car just finds an alternative route.

The Go Car will tell you in good time which lane to move into, so just listen to the directions. You will be told when to be alert for tricky road sections. Go Car speaks English, Spanish, Catalan, French, German and Italian and has many good stories and some music. It really is a fun way to see Barcelona. It's like driving with a friendly and chatty driving instructor, who tells you when and where to turn. The Go Car is still quite a new sight in Barcelona so it is quite an attraction for the residents of Barcelona. Just wave and smile if someone wants to take your photo!

Stopping and Parking. You can stop whenever you want and decide how long you want to spend at each attraction. Parking is easy. Just park in a scooter spot, which is free. You can park in a regular car parking space, but if you do that remember to buy a parking ticket .  In some places you can do what the scooters do and park for free on the pavement.  But remember the Go Car does not have a reverse gear, so you have to push it out on the road again if you are in a tricky parking place. One person can easily push the Go Car.
