Bagués-Masriera Museum of modernist jewels Barcelona
Bagués-Masriera Museum of modernist jewels Barcelona. Located on the first floor of Hotel Bagués on La Rambla 105 in the former Bagués-Masrierajewellery workshop and shop, this new museum displays a permanent collection of jewellery pieces created by the renowned artist Lluís Masriera (1872-1958). Founded in 1839, Bagués-Masriera Joyeros has made one of the greatest creative impressions in the high-end jewellery sector in the world. The company's creations are grouped under two different names: Bagués as an expression of the creative Zeitgeist and Masriera as an expression of jewellery as art. Quality, perfection, colour and the Mediterranean spirit are the central elements of this jewellery's complex character. The symbolic icons of modernism are a major feature of the jewels to be seen in theBagués-Masriera museum: dragonflies, flowers, nymphs, butterflies and insects, together with the refined nature of his enamel works displaying the plique-à-jourtechnique, also known as finestrat in Catalan. Some of the most interesting pieces ondisplay in the Bagués Hotel include Masriera's necklaces, earrings, bracelets, broochesand pendants, as well as a selection of exquisite watercolours and drawings in Indianink (artist's sketches to show his clients the development of the piece of jewellery) or examples of his domestic and religious gold and silver work (paperweights, cutlery, vases and more
