Museo de Cera- Barcelona Wax museum
Barcelona Wax Museum - Museo de Cera de Barcelona. News. The Barcelona Wax Museum offers a new and scary "Museo de Cera HORROR Experience from 2014." The Barcelona wax museum is one of Barcelona's quirky museums. it is located just off Las Ramblas near the harbour at the end of a passage to a 19th century building that formerly housed offices of the "Banco de Barcelona" and company "Crédito y Docks de Barcelona" and now finally the Barcelona wax museum. The wax musuem opened in 1973 and celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2013. The museum has around 360 waxworks of international and Spanish personalities from different periods and walks of life. It's interesting to see many Catalan historic figures too, so if you are interested in Barcelona and Catalonia's history, then it's worth going to see the former rulers of Barcelona in wax. Most of the wax figures are from the decades before the opening of the museum in the seventies, so a visit here is a walk back in time. The wax models are exhibited in different settings with projections and audio-visual effects. The admission price is quite expensive at around €18 but it's worth visiting. There is a equally quirky bar next to the musuem called museum called El Bosc de les Fades, which has a fairytale forest theme and which is fun to combine with a visit to the wax museum. The wax museum will be the setting of a new Spanish horror film Wax starring by Jimmy Shaw, Geraldine Chaplin and Jack Taylor and directed by Víctor Matellano.
