Mossos d’Esquadra police stations have remained open during the health crisis. At the resumption phase we are still at your service and with the following prevention measures for your protection and also for the police officers who will attend you:
Remember the security measures when you go to the police stations to report or to do any other queries:
- Maintain at least 1.5 meters distance between yourself and others (recommended 2 meters)
- The use of a mask is mandatory
- Officers will be able to provide you a medical mask if you do not have one
- The use of mask will NOT be mandatory:
- For people who have any type of illness or difficulty breathing that may be aggravated by the use of the mask
- In the case of people who, due to their situation of disability or dependency, do not have the autonomy to remove the mask
- Follow the signs for the entrances and exits
- It is recommended that you bring a pen in case you need to sign documentation
- Follow the instructions of the officers at all times
- Avoid going to the police station if you have any symptoms
Prevention and protection measures in our police stations
We have adapted our police stations to guarantee your protection and that of the people who will take care of you:
- We have alcohol-based hand sanitizer for hand hygiene
- Shift access with a waiting area outside the office to ensure the required capacity at all times
- Sign-posting to indicate places of entry and exit at the police station
- At reception and public attention areas you can find physical elements or signs to ensure a safe distance
- If the distance of 1.5 meters (recommended 2 meters) cannot be guaranteed and / or there is no physical element, glass or partition between the agent and the people, the agent and people will use a mask
- Our facilities are frequently disinfected preventively to ensure the protection of those who go and work there
- We disinfect pens after officers or the public use them
- We have adapted the reception (area protected by safety glass) to collect simple complaints
If you want to report a crime, please go to any police station or Citizen’s Advice Bureau. Police Stations are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
You can report the following crimes online: petty crime, burglaries, car break-ins, loss of personal belongings, etc. Please note that you cannot make a police report online in the event of a violent crime or if you’ve seen the perpetrator/s or if you are able to identify them.
Please note that if you report a crime online, you must go to any police station to sign and complete your police report. The time frame to do this is 72 hours upon completion of the online report. Please remember to take your reference number with you to the police station.
Highlights
- It’s advisable to make the police report as soon as possible, even if the crime happened hours or days ago.
- If anyone witnessed the crime, it’s important to try and obtain a contact number so that the police can contact them for further details.
- ID
- A list of the stolen belongings. Please try to be as specific as possible (serial number and model, invoices, etc). If you have photos of the objects please them with you to help the police identify them.
- If there were security cameras, the police will need the recordings.
- If your mobile phone gets stolen, try to get the list of calls that were made after the robbery. Please try to provide the IMEI number which can be found on the phone itself or on its original packaging.
- Please try to remember any features that stand out to help describe and identify the perpretator (i.e. physical appearance, marks, tatoos, scars, language spoken, etc).
- Please pay attention in which direction the perpetrator went and which means they used to escape (on foot/vehicle/public transport, etc).
- If anyone witnessed the crime, it’s important to try and obtain a contact number so that the police can contact them for further details.
- Do not touch anything. There could be valuable evidence for the police investigation.
- Do not move or touch any objects that the perpetrator/s may have touched.
- If you are a victim of domestic violence and the aggressor is present, try to leave and go to a safe place (i.e. ask your neighbours/friends/hotel staff for help, try and find somebody on the street, etc). You should then call 112.
- Report immediately Mossos d'Esquadra or call 112 (free call). You also have the option to go to any police station.
- Give as much as features to help describe and identify the prepretator, as well as the means he/she used to escape (on foot/vehicle/public transport, etc).
- We must always report the facts, even the crime finally didn't happened. It can help to prevent other crimes.
The Grup d’Atenció a la Víctima (Victim Support Group) from Mossos d’Esquadra offers personalised assistance and advice to those who find themselves in a vulnerable situation:
In the case of domestic violence:
You will be seen by a Specialist Domestic Violence police officer.
- They will listen to you and take a statement. They will inform you of your rights as a victim of domestic violence. They’ll explain how to obtain a restraining order to keep the aggressor at a distance.
- You will be directed to the most suitable services that can offer you assistance.
- Once you’ve reported the facts to the police, you’ll receive a phone call from Grup d’Atenció a la Víctima from Mossos d’Esquadra to see how you’re doing and what your current situation is.
- If you have a restraining order, Grup d’Atenció a la Víctima will call you to follow up and find out if the aggressor is respecting the order and to provide you with any updates relating to your case.
- Mossos d’Esquadra police give talks to the elderly and professionals where they explain how to avoid situations of mistreatment.
Hate crimes and discrimination:
In the event of hate crimes and discrimination, please contact the police even if you are not sure if you’ve seen or been involved in a hate related crime. Reporting these crimes to the police will help to prevent and avoid these incidents from happening again.
- Personalised assistance. We maintain a good relationship with the most vulnerable people to create mutual trust and offer personalised assistance. Each Mossos police station has their own Oficina de Relacions amb la Comunitat (Community Relations Office) who are responsible for offering this service.
- Comprehensive assistance to the victims. Our work is to prevent, detect and follow up any cases, as well as ensuring that the victim is informed, cared for and has access to the network of resources which are suitable for their needs and available in their area.
- For enquiries and advice. Please write to mossos.delictes.odi@gencat.cat This is a specific e-mail address for enquiries about reporting this type of crime. All correspondence is completely confidential.
The Oficina d'Atenció a les Famílies de Persones Desaparegudes (Families of Missing Persons Office) from the Interior Ministry offers specialised assistance to the families of missing persons. This is the way in which the families are informed and updated of any progress of the investigation. This office also offers advice and information of other specialised services.
- Basic recommendation: you should report the missing person immediately. It’s not necessary to wait 24 hours to report it. You can report it any any Mossos d’Esquadra police station (open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year) or at any of the local police stations in Catalunya. You must take ID with you (ID card, passport, NIE or driving license).

Related information
- Please do not touch anything until the Scientific Police arrive.
- You will receive a phone call from the Scientific Police to go over the facts to arrange a time for them to come and do an inspection.
- Under no circumstances should you touch or move any objects left by the perpetrator/s: tools, cigarette butts, etc.
- If you really need to touch any of the objects, do it wearing gloves and only touch it via the edges to ensure you don’t wipe off any fingerprints.
