Museu Blau - Blue Museum at Parc del Forum. Part of "El Museu de Ciències Naturals" - Museum of Natural Science Barcelona. New natural science museum on Plaça Leonardo da Vinci in the Parc del Forum area of Barcelona. In the year 2000, the Zoology Musuem and the Barcelona Geology museum were merged to form the Barcelona Natural Science Musuem. In 2011 a new natural science museum opened in the Sant Marti district of Barcelona in an impressive blue triangular building built in 2004 by architects Herzog & de Meuron, who also collaborated on the new Blue museum installations. The building is an equilateral triangle measuring 180 metres wide and 25 metres high. The spaces given over to the Museum, comprising some 9,000 m2 in all, are distributed on three floors. Museum director is Anna Omedes. Highlights are the room of mirrors and the whale skeleton of a whale washed in Cap Ras in the north of Catalunya in 1862, now named Brava. Visit website for details of opening times. With the latest addition of the Blue museum,  the Barcelona Science museum called  "Museu de Ciències Naturals" now has four facilities in Barcelona, which are the Museu Blau, the Botanical Gardens - Jardí Botànic on Montjuic hill, "Castell dels Tres Dragons" zoology museum in the park Parc de la Ciutadella and also the geology musuem "Museu Martorell Museu de Geologia" also in the Parc del al Ciutadella.  In 2012 the Museu Blau opened a new section called "Planet Life" with more than 3,500 exhibits that explains the parallel evolution of life and the planet.
