Grandvalira is the largest ski area of the two big ski areas in Andorra, Grandvalira and Vallnord.

The ski season in Andorra usually starts around end November or beginning December, but can vary from year to year according to snowfall.

Grandvalira is the largest ski area in the Pyrenees mountain range. It was created when when six small ski areas and villages connected to form Grandvalira.

They are the ski stations Pas de la Casa, Grau Roig, Soldeu, El Tarter, Canillo and Encamp.

All six ski areas are seamlessly connected by a modern express lift system to give you 210 kilometres of alpine pistes which makes Grandvalira able to compete with Europe’s top ski resorts.

Grandvalira has about 65 lifts transporting skiers to over 110 pistes that include 22 black runs and 32 red runs and many wide and inviting blue and green runs.

Almost all the runs are above the tree line.

Many of the slopes have skiable freeride areas near the many prepared pistes, so the off-piste and freeriding possibilities are enormous and easily available, even for relative beginners.

The Grandvalira ski area also offers 3 snowboard/freestyle parks and many exciting activities near the pistes and lifts. The lowest of the five villages is Encamp at 1300m above sea level and the highest village is Pas de la Casa at 2100m.

Most of the mountain peaks in the Grandvalira area reach an altitude of 2500m so many of the runs are long and wide and have spectacular views of the surrounding mountains. At this altitude snow is normally very good from December to April.
