The 22@Barcelona project is the transformation of 200 hectares of old industrial land in the Poblenou and Sant Marti district of Barcelona which was previously known as the "Manchester of Catalonia" into an innovative high-tec business area, in effect the Catalan Silicon Valley.
The basic concept is the concentration of new-technology sector firms, creating around 130.000 new jobs in the area.
22@ is the municipal society created in 2001 by Barcelona City Council in order to promote and manage the foreseen transformation for 22@Barcelona project
