Palau de la Musica Catalana
Palau de la Música Catalana. Fabulous modernist concert hall in Barcelona city centre. The Palau de la Música Catalana was designed and built in the period 1905-1908 by one of the stars of modernist architecture in Barcelona, Catalan architecht Lluís Domènech i Montaner. In 1997 the Palau del a Musica and the Hospital Sant Pau, also by Domenech i Montaner, were declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site  With 100 years of history the Palau de la Música Catalana is a cornerstone in Catalan musical life. It was created as the home and concert hall of the Orfeó Català choir, an amateur choral society founded some years earlier by Lluís Millet, which was significant in the re-emergence of Catalan popular music.

Guided tours of the Palau are available from Monday to Sunday from 10.00 to 15.00 every half hour in Catalan, Spanish and English. The tour lasts 50 minutes and consists of an audio visual presentation and visit to the concert hall itself. Please note that visiting times may vary or visits may be cancelled, according to the availability of the concert hall. There is a nice cafe in the lobby of the Palau and an excellent restaurant inside the Palau de la Musica buildings called La Mirador.
