Thanks to the efforts of the Giggling Guiri Comedy Club over the past few years, you can now experience the best of the upcoming and established names from the British and international comedy scene in Barcelona on a regular basis.
The comedy shows take place at the Teatro Llantiol in the heart of Barcelonas most colourful barrio, El Raval, which really is a perfect place for a great evening of comedy. It is a classic old world cabaret style theatre with a wonderful intimate feel.
The comedians are all established and top class English speaking comedians mostly from the UK and Ireland, who get rave reviews from audiences in Barcelona.
The Giggling Guiri also organises comedy workshops in Barcelona where old hands give new talent a chance to learn some basic skills and material before stepping into the limelight.
Sunday 2nd November 2008 is the premiere of the first Logan Murray Stand up Comedy workshop in Barcelona.
This will be an exciting night of new local talent on display for the first ever devoted Stand-Up Open Mic night and the evening will be skillfully MCed by Logan Murray, himself a stand-up for 20 years and so is guaranteed to have a painless flow.
When all the comedy newbies are carried or swept off the stage we will be left in the hands of one Glaswegian comedienne, Janey Godley. Despite a very late start in comedy Janey has demonstrated that it is never too late to have a career in world class comedy!
Janey Godley managed a bar in Glasgow before getting serious about comedy as late as 2002 and now she really is on fire.
She arrives here fresh from an outstanding run at the 2008 Edinburgh Fringe that saw her win 3 awards. She won the Fringe Report Award as "Best Performer" and was double winner of Funny Women Fringe Award for "Best Show" and Best Stand-up”.
After the comedy events on Friday and Saturday evenings, you can choose to stay as resident DJs take over the scene and the party continues into the early hours.
