Although Montjuic is a prominent hill overlooking Barcelona from the South East
of the city centre, it is often somewhat overlooked by visitors, especially when one considers
the abundance of top tourist attractions that this 230 metre high hill has to offer.

They can be enjoyed both from the Montjuīc Fort - Castell de Montjuic, and many other viewing points on the hill.

To get up to the military fort, Castell de Montjuīc, and enjoy panoramic views on the way there -
take the
Montjuic funicular train from metro station Paralel, then cross the road and take the
Teleferic de Montuic cable car that flies you right to the highest point on Montjuic Mountain to the old fort - Castell de Montjuic.

One of the oldest structures on Montjuīc hill is the Castell de Montjuīc. The current fort is mostly from the 18th century and was used both for the defense of Barcelona, but also to keep the Catalans in line during times of oppression.
The fortress houses the
Museu Militar -military museum and the grounds of the fort are
used for many other activities like archery clubs, concerts and outdoor cinema.
In the spring of 2008 the Military Museum will be moved and the fort will be used exclusively for cultural activities.

Montjuīc hill has so many visitor attractions,
that a new hop-on/hop-off
Montjuic tour bus with two different
routes now takes visitors to all the best attractions on Montjuic.

The
Montjuic tour buses are modern and confortable and you can hop-on / hop off at your leisure
to enjoy all the sights of Montjuic.

Montjuic has an amazing amount of parks and gardens for visitors to enjoy including the

The Miro Foundation Museum - Fundaciķ Joan Mirķ is a must see for art lovers in Barcelona.
The building was designed by his friend Josep Lluís Sert and features an amazing
octagonal tower that is often used as an auditorium for classical music concerts.
