The magic behind the management of bizFlats comes from Jaume Barberena and Mercedes Delgado. Together they founded bizFlats back in 2004, which makes them veterans in this relatively young sector of the travel industry.
Jaume, who is Catalan, applies his broad experience in international business to offer the best accommodation for our clients. Mercedes, who is a Madrileña, takes care of the web design, contents and image consulting. Together they can speak to clients in fluent Catalan, English, Spanish, good Russian, and passable French and Italian.
We asked why bizFlats has so quickly become popular with clients?
Jaume: It is the personal touch in my opinion - our passion that we have for finding the right flat for our clients. When we preview a new possible bizFlats apartment, we check it meticulously.
We ask ourselves, “Could I see my self staying in this flat if I were here in Barcelona for business or pleasure? It looks good but does it function properly? Is it tastefully furnished, but also comfortable?
Is it well equipped and does everything work? There is nothing is more frustrating those essential appliances that don’t work or have technology that is out of date.
We look at the location in Barcelona in relation to business areas, restaurants, transport and facilities. And last, but not least we like our apartments to be not just clean, but spotless.
If an apartment lives up to our personal quality standards, then we know bizFlats clients will like it. From experience and feedback from hundreds of clients, we have learned that quality and service are often a more important factor than the rental price of a short term apartment.
Mercedes: I agree. Of course we make sure that we have competitive prices to match all budgets and needs. You can stay at our centrally located Marquès apartment from 65 euros a night or at the splendid Meu Lindo Beach apartment for 300 euros a night.
But we have learned that many of our repeat clients don’t just look at price. They know that often when you pay a little more, you get a lot more! And what you don’t get is unwanted surprises or unnecessary hassle or disappointments.
Mercedes continues. The personal touch is also about the attention that we give our clients. We don’t abandon them once they have checked in. Our clients have a 24h concierge service, so if they need help, our team is there for them.
Our company goal is to answer emails within 2 hours and to be available for clients through all channels including new media like skype, twitter and facebook etc. We want to be able to offer fast, friendly and accurate information to fix any issues before, during and after their stay.
We also put a lot of passion into the bizFlats website, which we are very proud of. It brings us many new clients because it’s efficient and user-friendly, while still being pleasing to look at. Many customers have told us that they chose us, because they decided that if we could make such a great booking website, then we could probably provide great service and support offline too. And we don’t disappoint them!
Jaume: It’s also about constantly learning. Since the beginning we have tried to learn from experience and to improve our service every day. And share our local knowledge of the city. Barcelona is our home town, so our team can always answer the questions not only about the apartments but also about Barcelona’s neighborhoods, attractions and events. We are fortunate to have broad mix of nice and interesting clients. Since 2004 many international businesses have chosen bizFlats for their short term accommodation needs. For example, Siemens, American Express, Panasonic, Chanel, to name a few. We also provide accommodation for the thousands of members of GSM Mobile World Congress which is Barcelona’s annual biggest trade event.
Business clients are typically managers attending congresses and corporate events in Barcelona, or they are project managers here for an extended stay of a few weeks to work on a specific project. Many CEO’s also choose us when they first arrive to open a new branch office in Barcelona.
