Inside the acting school in Barcelona they are drilled mercilessly in acting exercises, scenes, techniques and a range of other activities designed to hone their acting skills in a fun and professional environment.
This is an excerpt from Frank’s monthly newsletter where he expands on his specialty, the Meisner technique, which is one of the most successful acting techniques in the world.

"The foundation of acting is the reality of doing. The reality of doing means doing things for real.
The Actors Workshop is the leading school for learning the Meisner technique in Barcelona and Spain. Frank Feys explains.
"One of the first messages that acting students around the world received while studying the Meisner Technique is:
To learn this technique we use one of the most important exercises of the Meisner technique; the independent activity.
While an actor is playing a part they must be doing something, an activity. It could be cleaning shoes, sorting papers, painting nails or almost anything that involves an active participation from the actor.
But the actor must do the activity for real. By being fully immersed in the “doingness”, their concentration will take them away from your acting.
That is the first step towards “good acting”. It will be honest and real.
Every time I watch a movie, I can’t help myself by noticing how true this is. The actors are always doing something. No matter if an actor is on stage, on a film set or simply rehearsing at home. They must find something to do.
It is through the activity that they will be able to show the true identity of the character. Whenever they do something, something might go wrong. And that is a blessing for an actor. The choices that you make as an actor under the pressure of doing something wrong, is what defines the character.
An actor must learn from themselves! See and understand how we all do things without thinking. Look around and notice the things people do in real life. To understand a character, is to observe how he/she does things. I stumbled on this quote: - You are what you repeatedly do. Excellence is not an event, it is a habit! – Aristotle.
The same thing can be said about acting. Good acting is not an accident. It is applying a technique that works! It is important to find a technique that works for you and in my 20 years and plus in the acting business, I have not discovered a more applicable technique then the one Meisner created so many years ago.
For those of you who have never encountered The Meisner technique, go to the Actors Workshop website and click on Special Courses. We can give you an opportunity for you to be introduced to the basics of Meisner technique. The Actors Workshop repeats these intensive Meisner courses in Barcelona every 3 months.
And to finish, I would like to remind you all, that we find all the answers about acting in the human being. Observe, observe and observe again. As Meisner used to say - You do not have to believe me, just do it. "
