Antoni Gaudi’s "Templo Expiatorio de
la Sagrada Familia" in the heart of Barcelona is probably most famous
for being unfinished. The construction was started in 1882 and is still
under way. It is expected to be fully finished in 2030. The unfinished Sagrada Familia is
Barcelona's most famous attraction.

Sagrada Familia park and Passion Facade
Below you can see how the magnificent structure, that Antoni Gaudi envisaged for the church of La Sagrada Familia in Barcelona over 100 years ago, will look when it is fully completed.
It will have a total of 18 towers. 12 of these towers will be on three facades, the Nativity Facade, the Passion facade and the Glory facade. Each will have 4 towers. An additional four towers will represeent the 4 evangelists. They will surround the largest, 170m/558ft tall tower in the middle, which will be dedicated to Jesus Christ. The final tower dedicated to Virgin Mary will be over the apse.

The Sagrada Familia by night is a must-see sight in Barcelona
This is the "Passion Facade'" The building of this facade started in 1954. The sculptures depicting the crucified Jesus Christ were added in 1987. When they were unveiled, the more basic and abstract style of the figures sparked a storm of debate, because the style was so very different from Gaudí's.
Gaudi is most famous for his avoidance of straight lines preferring the curved lines of nature, while the sculptures on the "Passion facade" are more linear and far from Gaudi’s style.
