Park Guell is an magical and innovative architectural park designed by Antoni Gaudí and situated on the hill of Carmel in the Grécia district of Barcelona, Spain. The magic starts at the main entrance where you are greeted by the original fountain of one of Barcelona's familiar symbols, the multi coloured mosaic lizard.

The rest of the park is a pleasure to visit. A rainbow of calm among by the many structures bearing motifs of catalanism, religion and poetry. From the central terrace sitting in one of the serpent benches, you can enjoy magnificent views of Barcelona. Park Guell was constructed from 1900 to 1914 and is one of the seven works by the Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site under the name "Works of Antoni Gaudí."
How to get to Park Guell in Barcelona:
By Metro
L3 Vallcarca Metro station is technically the nearest Metro stop to Parc Guell, and the route from the station to the park is well signposted, but you will have to walk a bit to get to the park ,and it includes is a steep climb even though there are some outdoor escalators for part of the way. Fun if you are fit. Hard if you are elderly or have trouble walking.
L3 Lesseps is about 1300 m from Park Guell, but this is a more leisurely walk and well signposted.
By public bus
Bus 92 from Parc Guell north side entrance on Carretera de Carmel to Glories & Port Olimpic
Bus 24 from Parc Guell north entrace on Carretera de Carmel to Plaza Catalunya & Poble Sec
By tourist bus
If you are in Barcelona city centre in the summer, then you could take the T2 Tibibus shuttle bus service which runs all day in a circular route from Plaza Catalunya (in front of Corte Ingles department store) with various stops along the way including Park Guell. The T2 Tibibus only operates during the summer months when the Tibidabo park is open. Another tourist bus that goes near Park Guell is the hop on hop off tourist bus , which stops at many sights in Barcelona including Parc Guell. but you still have to walk the last 900 m from street Travessera de Dalt to the Park Guell entrance. This is a more expensive solution a good option if you want to see other Barcelona, not only Park Guell

The park Guell entrance is free.
The house where Gaudí lived for the last years of his life now the Gaudi museum costs a small entrance fee of 5 euros (2009 prices)
