The Maritime Museum, Museu Marítim, is located at the end of the Ramblas close to the statue of Christopher Columbus in the "Drassanes Reials de Barcelona, " the Royal Shipyards. The Royal shipyards were constructed in 1378, by agreement of King Pere IV, the Consell de Cent (Council of One Hundred) and the Diputació del General (Council of the General)
In 1993, centuries later, the Consorci de les Drassanes Reials i Museu Marítim de Barcelona (Barcelona Shipyard and Maritime Museum Consortium) was formed to develop and maintain the buildings and the Maritime Museum of Barcelona. The Maritime museum also has a schooner called Santa Eulélia, which is open to the public (when it is in port) located at the Moll de la Fusta at Barcelona's Port Vell just near the walkway to the MareMagnum shopping centre at the end of the Rambla. In the summer you can sail on the Santa Eulélia on Saturdays from 11.00 to 14.00.
