Temple Expiatori del Sagrat Cor - Sacred Heart church
Temple Expiatori del Sagrat Cor on Tibidabo hill. The Church of the Sacred Heart, Barcelona. This is the illuminated building at the top of the tallest hill from the west overlooking Barcelona. The Temple Expiatori del Sagrat Cor was designed by architect Enric Sagnier. It is not a major architechural triumph, but nice to visit for the fabulous views of Barcelona and to see the statue of Jesus at the very top at 512 metres above sea level. The building of the church started in 1902 but was not completed until 60 years later. Visit their website for details of concerts and services. To get to the Sagrat Cor church and Tibidabo hill, visit our listing for the Tibidabo Amusement Park which is located in front of the church. Or book a minibus tour of Views of Barcelona, which includes visits to Montjuic hill and Tibidabo hill and this church
