How to get to this venueHow to get to Barcelona Olympic Stadium - Lluís Companys
The Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys (previously called the Estadi Olímpic de Montjuïc) is the Olympic Sorts Stadium in Barcelona, Spain. The location is on Montjuic mountain, which is the hill that overlooks Barcelona from the south of the city. If you are arriving to Barcelona by air then you will probably pass Montjuic mountain on your way to the center of Barcelona. It was originally built in 1927 for the 1929 Barcelona World Exposition and was rebuilt in 1989 to be the main venue for the 1992 Summer Olympics.The stadium is named after the former president of the Generalitat de Catalunya Lluís Companys i Jover. Companys was executed at the nearby Montjuïc Castle in 1940 by the dictator Franco's regime.
Take the Metro to Metro station Espanya by metro lines Red L1 or metro line Green Line 3 - or by FCG trains. Then walk from the metro station Espanya up towards the MNAC art museum, which is the building that looks like a royal palace at the end of Av Reina Maria Christina above the Magic Fountain. The Estadi Olimpic is up on the hill behind and to the right of the MNAC palace. You can take outdoor escalators part of the way up the hill. From there just folllow the signs and the crowds. It is a around 15-20 walk from the metro station..
Take the Metro to station Parallel on green L3. Then take the Montjuic funicular train up the Montjuic hill. With your back facing Barcelona go right and follow the road Av de Miramar down to the Olympic Stadium. 10 min walk.
Nearest FCG train stop: Pl Espanya. Then walk from the metro station Espanya up to the stadium along the Av Reina Maria Christina, past the Magic Fountain and then up the outdoor escalators to take you part of the way up the hill. From there just folllow the signs and the crowds. It is a 15 min walk.
Route plan bus line 55 and timetable bus line 55 to Olympic Stadium on Montjuic mountain Barcelona. The nearby Palau Sant Jordi arena has a car park for 5000 vehicles. |
