Setmana de la bicicleta 2012 aims to promote more use of daily bicycle transport in the city as well as safe bicycling. Join in the many bike related activities in Barcelona in June. All BCN bike week activities are free and usually include daily evening bike rides with a free bike, In 2012 activities are centred around Arc de Triomp with a programme that includes bike workshops for children, electric bicycle tours, free ITB bike check-ups,  bike nights, second hand bike market and other activities. Another fun activity on Sunday 16/6 is the Night Bike Ride called "Bicicletada nocturna." The Barcelona bike week ends at the weekend with the three day Barcelona Bike Show at Parc del Forum and the popular "Festa de la bici" ride, which is Bike and Skate Party fun ride through Barcelona on Sunday 17/6 2012.

Arc del Triomf on Passeig Lluis Companys. The arch monument was built as the entrance to the Barcelona 1888 Universal exhibition. It was designed by modernist architect "Josep Vilaseca i Casanovas" in a moorish revival style. The stone sculpture on the front frieze is by Josep Reynés and is called "Barcelona rep les nacions" in Catalan which means "Barcelona welcomes the nations." The opposite frieze contains a stone carving named "Recompense", a work from the earliest period of sculptor Josep Llimona. At the top of the arch you can see the Barcelona coat of arms and also that of all the 49 other Spanish provinces by artists Torquat Tassó and Antoni Vilanova.

Pg Lluis Companys is the street and pedestrian passage from the Arc del Triomf arch to the Parc de la Ciutatdella in the right side of the Eixample area of Barcelona. This space is perferct for smaller events and festivals and often is part of bigger city wide festivals. Notable annual events on the Passeig Lluis Companys are the Setmana de la bicicleta bike week, independence day meetings on 11th September called Festa per la Llibertat and often this venue is used for big football match screenings and as part of many top festivals in Barcelona. It is a lovely place for walks and for bicycling especially in combination with a visit to the park Cuitadella.
