Fira de Santa Llucia 2012. The biggest and best Christmas market in Barcelona is La Fira de Santa Llucia Christmas market on "Avenida de la Catedral" in front of Barcelona's cathedral in the Gothic quarter of the old city. 2012 is the 226th edition of the Santa Lucia Christmas market in Barcelona. The 2012 market has around 283 stalls with around 100 of them selling the popular “figuritas de Belén,” which are the tiny figures to make your Christmas nativity scene called "pessebres." Also on sale are the Christmas crappers called "Caganers" and other Christmas decorations, gifts, arts and crafts. Special days during the fair are the "Dia de Santa Llúcia" and the "Diada de les Tradicions i els Costums Nadalencs a Catalunya on Thursday 13/12. For kids don't miss the "Tió gegant" giant log activities from 1/12 to 16/12

Avinguda de la Catedral is the square located in front of Barcelona cathedral in the gothic quarter of Barcelona. It is part of series of square that also comprises Plà de la Seu and extends into Plaça Nova. Avinguda de la Catedral is often used for markets including an antiques market, the Santa Lucia Christmas market and for other events in connections with annual festivals in Barcelona like the Santa Eulalia festival and La Merce Festival. There is usually sardanes dancing every Sunday around noon in front on the cathedral
