A "Festa Major" is a traditional neighborhood festival in Spain, especially in Catalonia region of Spain. It's usually a celebration of a village, town or district's patron saint. It features parades, music, dancing, fireworks, food, and local customs over several days. Each barrio or neighbourhood of Barcelona has an annual Festa Major. La Festa Major del Gòtic 2025 is a 4 day festival for the historic Gothic Quarter in the old city, Ciutat Vella.  The focus is mainly on the residents of the barrio but there are many activities for families and visitors to enjoy. From Plaça de la Mercè to Plaça del Rei, from Plaça del Pi to Plaça del Vuit de Març, there are around 40 activities over 4 days. It features traditional Catalan activities like gegants (giant puppet parades), live music, folk dancing, and neighborhood meals in the scenic Plaça de la Mercè and surrounding streets. All events are free and take place across various streets and squares in the Gothic Quarter. Friday May 9th 2025 at 8.30pm. Festa Major Folk Ball on Pl. del Rei. Folk music concert-dance, roots music and a folk Jam.
