Castell de l'Oreneta park
Castell de l'Oreneta park is one of Barcelona's best loved and biggest parks although a long way from the city center. It was built on two old private country estates. It opened in 1978 and is open all year round from 10 am until sunset. The name came from the old Oreneta Castle, the ruins of which can still be seen in the park. The park is one of the few wooded parks in Barcelona and borders on the woodlands of Collserola hill, where you can go for longer nature walks.

There are excellent attractions for children like playgrounds, pony rides and a fun miniature steam train ride, which takes passengers through no less than 3 tunnels and 2 over bridges and a viaduct before returning to an impressive station.

The train was built and is maintained by a Steam train club in nearby Sabadell, so it is a real experience. Trains rides are usually open on weekends between 11.00 and 14.00 Another popular feature is the picnic areas with views of Barcelona. There is an open air public swimming pool open in the summer in the muncipal sports center called 'Can Caralleu' next to park Oreneta.
