Tablao de Carmen flamenco show
El Tablao de Carmen is an authentic and spectacular flamenco show in the Spanish village Poble Espanyol de Montjuïc on Montjuic hill. The Tablao de Carmen is a tribute to the legendary flamenco dancer Carmen Amaya. Carmen Amaya was a Catalan gypsy born in the Somorrostro slum on Barcelona's coast. She became world famous and performed worldwide including in the White House. In 1929 she danced for Spanish King Alfonso XIII to mark the inauguration of the Poble Espanyol for the Universal Exposition in Barcelona in 1929 at the very location now occupied by the flamenco bar Tablao de Carmen.

TICKETS Tablao de Carmen flamenco show

The Tablao de Carmen is a 75 minute flamenco show featuring established flamenco artists and new young talent. As an authentic tablao show there is no formal choreography. Each artist interprets his or her part individually and the rest follow the beat, marking the rhythm, accompanying it and strengthening it. This improvisation constitutes a key element of flamenco and is directly related to the communication between the artists themselves, and between them and the audience. The audience participates in the whole show with its clapping and exclamations and this communication means that no two shows are ever the same. Great show. Good tapas.
