Spanish Cup Final 2017. FC Barcelona are the defending champions. The Copa del Rey 2017 final teams are FC Barcelona and Deportivo Alavés. 115th edition of Copa del Rey Spanish Cup 2017 final date is on Saturday 27 May 2017 in Madrid in the Vicente Calderon stadium - usually home to Atlético Madrid. The winners of the Copa del Rey will qualify for the next UEFA Europa League group stage and play the La Liga winners in the 2017 Supercopa de España.

Barcelona will not be showing the game on giant screen in public places but you can be sure that the whole city will be watching in bars and restaurants and homes. The game will be broadcast on public TV stations Telecinco and TV3.

Barcelona is the current defending champion. FC Barcelona are the Spanish team that has won the Copa del Rey most times with 28 Copa del Rey titles out of a record 39 final appearances.

Star striker Luis Suarez will miss the Copa del Rey after receiving a 2 match ban after being sent off for 2 offences in Barca's semi-final against Atl. Madrid. The first offense was his red card & his second offense was not going to the changing rooms after being sent off.

For Deportivo Alavés from Spain's Basque country, this is a historic achievement and will be their first Copa del Rey final ever in the club's 96 year history. It is also only the team's second ever major final appearance. The first was when they lost to Liverpool in the UEFA Cup back in 2001.

The winners of the Copa del Rey final qualify to play in the Spanish Supercopa final, which is the annual game between the Spanish league cup winners and King's cup winners at the beginning of the next season. If one of the teams do the double and win both liga and cup titles, then the winners of the Spanish Cup play the runners up of the league.

The full name of Copa del Rey tournament is 'El Campeonato de España – Copa de Su Majestad el Rey de Fútbol'  but it is generally called the King's Cup "Copa del Rey" or "Copa de S.M. el Rey." The Copa del Rey is Spain's oldest soccer competition.
