Empúries Greek and Roman ruins - ruines d'Empuries. 2,500-year-old Greek/Roman Empúries site on the Costa Brava coast of Catalonia, Spain. Museu d'Arqueologia de Catalunya - Empúries (Ampurias in Spanish) is the most important Greek archaeological site in Spain and the biggest greek ruins outside Greece. The ruins of a Greek date back to 575 BC. Later it became a Roman settlement.

Visit the ruins and the museum with many important pieces of Greek bronze, ceramic and sculpture. A short walk north along the coast will take you to the mediaval village of Sant Marti d'Empuries and to the south you'll find L'Escala, a popular tourist resort. In 2015 a new visitors centre will be opened with new car park, restaurant, an audio-visual area, library and a shop

Empúries ruins opening times:
From 1st October - 31st May
Monday to Sunday 10.00 to 18.00

From 1st June to 30th September
Monday to Sunday 10.00 to 20.00
Closed on 1st January and 25th December
Empúries Parking

The Empuries site has free parking close to the ruins, a beach just outside the site, a museum (free with site admission) and a cafe.
