Cafe Opera on La Rambla Barcelona. The premises that houses Cafe de l’Opera has had quite a varied history since it first started in the hospitality business in the 18th century and is now a listed building. Its current incarnation dates back to 1929 and the Modernist and Neo-classical influenced interior, painted in greens and creams, with sculpted cornices, columns and mirrors adorning the walls, give the café a very classical feel. The ground floor has small tables at the front, larger tables in the back and a terrace on Las Ramblas. It has a strong local following and because of its position on Las Ramblas is also popular with passing tourists. The café serves a range of tapas and snacks and is one of the few places on Las Ramblas where you can get a late night drink at a reasonable price. Visit their website to see old and new photos of this historic cafe and pictures of their whisky museum.
