Ticket information. 3 day programme of classic motor cars racing at the Montmelo race track near Barcelona to celebrate the 'Spirit of Montjuïc' in celebration of the many years of motor racing on Montjuic hill in Barcelona. The 10th edition of Espiritu de Montjuïc will take place from 21 to 23 March. This historic car show, designed for all audiences, will be held at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. This event will offer a magical journey into the past with the vehicles and races that made us dream decades ago, to which will be added a series of activities that will complete an event suitable for the whole family. The Espirit de Montjuic event is at the Barcelona racing Circuit Catalunya in Montmelo near Barcelona. It features classic F1 cars, saloon cars, sports prototypes, GTs and motorcycles some of which actually raced on the old Montjuic racetrack circuit and now race again at the Circuit de Catalunya. The Espirit de Montjuic has a full programme of fun family activities, reunions with old racing stars and much more. History: The Montjuïc circuit on Montjuic hill in Barcelona was a former street circuit which also hosted Formula One racing until 1975. The Montjuïc circuit in Barcelona hosted the Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix four times between 1969 and 1975. The winners of these races were: 1969: Jackie Stewart driving a Matra-Ford. 1971: Jackie Stewart driving a Tyrrell-Ford. 1973: Emerson Fittipaldi driving a Lotus-Ford. 1975: Jochen Mass driving a McLaren-Ford. Notably, Jackie Stewart and Emerson Fittipaldi were the most famous drivers who won at Montjuïc. Stewart is a three-time World Champion, and Fittipaldi is a two-time World Champion. The reason for the limited number of races was safety concerns. The 1975 race was particularly tragic due to a major accident involving Rolf Stommelen's car, which crashed into the crowd, killing five spectators. After this incident, Montjuïc was deemed too dangerous for F1, and the Spanish Grand Prix permanently moved to other Spanish racetracks like Jarama and later Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
