There are many daily train connections from Barcelona to Tarragona. The easiest are the regional trains (travel time 1 hour and 20 minutes). There are also high-speed trains (travel time 30 to 60 minutes.) The regular trains are more convenient for 1 day trips to Tarragona to visit the Roman ruins becuause the station is closer to the center. The “Camp de Tarragona” high speed train station is further inland. From the high speed train station you can take the Plana bus service to get to and from “Camp de Tarragona” train station to the Tarragona bus station. The regular trains arrive on the coast and there is a convenient walk-way up to the gothic area and Roman ruins which is a short walk. Please note the Roman aquaduct in Tarragona is 4 km outside Tarragona city center, so best reached by car, taxi or as part of a tour. |
