Located on Barcelona's famous La Rambla street, the Gran Teatre del Liceu is one of Europeçs most important opera houses and a Barcelona tourist attraction. Many of the world’s greatest opera singers have performed at the Liceu including Maria Callas, Luciano Pavarotti, Montserrat Caballé, Placido Domingo, and Josep Carreras. Since opening in 1847 it has experienced anarchist bombings, two major fires and come through a civil war. The Liceu has always endured and is more popular than ever.
