What is Barcelona tourist tax and how much is it?

It is a tourist tax that is included in hotel prices. Visitors pay this tourist tax for every night they spend in Barcelona in the many forms of tourist accommodation like campsites, hotels, guestrooms and on cruise ships.

It is charged on the accommodation and paid at check out along with the rest of the services and room charges. If you pre-book then it should be specified in your booking confirmation.

In Spanish it is called la tasa turística

The tax is higher in the city of Barcelona than other regions of Barcelona and it varies according to type of accommodation.

The most expensive accommation pays the most tax.  Depending on the type of accommodation, the tax will be greater or smaller.

Children under 17 do not pay tourist tax. The tourist tax is only applied for 7 days.

How much is Barcelona tourist tax?

Barcelona charges 2.25 euros for 5-star hotels, 1.10 euros for 4-star hotels and 2 euros for 3-star hotels or less.

Tourist apartments pay a single rate per person per night of 2.25 euros.

The rest of Catalonia has similar rates which are 2.25 euros for 5-star establishments, 0.90 cents for 4-star and 4-star establishments and 0.45 for other tourist accommodation and facilities.

Outside Barcelona, ​​tourist apartments have a rate of 0.90 cents per person per night.
