Where is Gaudi buried?

Gaudi is buried in the crypt of the Sagrada Familia church in Barcelona, Spain. He was laid to rest in the chapel of the Virgen del Carmen - la verge del Carme - to the left of the altar in the crypt. There are 12 chapels in the Sagrada familia crypt.

The Sagrada Famlia crypt is not generally open to the public. It is open to the public during mass and prayer services, which means that the crypt is not open as a tourist attraction so kindly respect the sanctity of the crypt and if you attend services please do not take photographs or video.

The crypt is the oldest part of the Sagrada Familia Basilica and already under construction when Gaudi took over the commission to build the Sagrada Familia. Because the crypt was already being built before Guadi took over it was built in a neo-renaissance style which was popular at the time.

However the mosaic floors feature luscious vines that encircle the perimeter and the columns are richly decorated with foliage and a prescursor to the amazing nature inspired interior of Gaudi's most famous building where he rests below in peace.
