Where is Picasso buried?

The artist Pablo Picasso is buried in the gardens of the Château of Vauvenargues which was his last home in France. The Château of Vauvenargues is a fortified bastide (country house) in the village of Vauvenargues to the north of Montagne Sainte-Victoire, just outside the town of Aix-en-Provence in the south of France.

When did Picasso die?

Pablo Picasso died on Sunday April 8, 1973 in Mougins, France from pulmonary edema (fluid in the lungs) and heart failure, while he and his wife Jacqueline entertained friends for dinner. Pulmonary edema is a condition caused by excess fluid in the lungs. This fluid collects in the air sacs of the lungs and makes it difficult to breathe. Heart problems are often the cause of pulmonary edema. Jacqueline Picasso or Jacqueline Roque (born 24 February 1927 - died 15 October 1986) was Picasso's second wife. They married in 1961 and their marriage lasted 11 years until his death. During their time together he created over 400 portraits of her, which more than any of Picasso's other loves or muses. She was 47 at the time of his death.
