What is trencadís?

Trencadís is a form of mosaic pattern technique but trencadís uses broken porcelain or glass pieces. The pieces can then be arranged to create designs or pictures in a mosaic.

Trencadís is a Catalan language word that means 'chopped'. This word is the name used for this technique of making mosaics when it was revived in the early 20th century principally by Gaudi in the period of Catalan modernism

Where can you see Trencadís in Barcelona?

You can see Trencadís in Barcelona at many of Gaudi's building including the Casa Batllo and Park Guell among other Gaudi buildings.
