Poble Espanyol - Spanish village
El Poble Espanyol de Montjuic. Spanish village Barcelona. Address and map. Poble Espanyol is an open air museum in Barcelona with handicraft shops and a variety of excellent restaurants and bars. In the summer from May there are open air night clubs and all year round you can enjoy one of Barcelona's best flamenco shows called El Tablao de Carmen.

The Spanish village has a big area of 49,999 m2. It was built for the 1929 Barcelona International Exhibition to show a "Spanish village" with elements of many towns and villages from the entire Iberian peninsula. The 117 buildings, streets and squares represent different styles from regions of Spain. It was built in just thirteen months and only intended to be open for the six months of the Universal Exhibition in 1929. But it was such a great success that it stayed open ever since as an open air museum.

El Poble Espanyol combines history and art with more than forty art and craft workshops showcasing historic Spanish handmade production techniques and qualities in ceramics, engraving, decorative painting, glass blowing, puppet-making, jewellery, masks, fans, sculpture, leather, embroidery, basket-weaving, musical instrument-making, espadrille-making and many others.
