Barcelona Events 2024F1 Formula One 2023 BarcelonaGran Premio de España F1 2023 - Spanish Grand PrixNews: F1 Spanish Grand Prix moves to Madrid from Barcelona in 2024. F1 announces that the Spanish Grand Prix moves to Madrid in 2026 to 2035 for 10 years. The F1 Spanish Grand Prix was at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya from 1991 to 2023. Madrid "will replace Barcelona as host of the Spanish Grand Prix" in 2026 on a new circuit “around the Ifema exhibition centre between the Spanish capital and Barajas airport,” according to Andrew Benson of BBC.com. The deal, which runs until 2035, means Madrid will be host of the country's grand prix for the "first time since 1981." It has been held at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya since 1991. F1 President & CEO Stefano Domenicali said that F1 “remains in discussions with Barcelona about the future" and the "possibility remains for it to host a race in addition to Madrid.” F1 said that it "would be able to host 110,000 fans a day initially with plans to expand the capacity to 140,000" -- making it "one of the largest venues on the F1 calendar" (BBC.com, 1/23).
