La Ruta de la Sal – Trofeo Pepe Ferres is an Easter deep sea regatta with the highest participation in the Mediterranean. Every year the Ruta de la Sal mobilizes a mixed boat fleet that sails the Mediterranean sea from Barcelona and from Denia to arrive in Ibiza in commemoration of last century’s crossings in search of white gold – salt. The start of the 2013 Ruta de la Sal from Barcelona is usually at Port Ginesta marina at the south end of Castelldefels beach.
