'El Grito' - Grito de Independencia de México in Barcelona is celebrated on the evening of Sunday 17th September 2017 at 19:55 at the Feria del Grito Barcelona. El Grito in Barcelona is always organised in Barcelona by el Consulado de México en Barcelona and in 2024 it takes place at the Barcelona Fiesta Mexicana 2024 in el Poble Espanyol in Barcelona. 'El Grito de Dolores' - (the cry for independence) is the central event of the festivities. The Grito de Dolores was the battle cry of the Mexican War of Independence, uttered by Father Miguel Hidalgo on September 16, 1810 as the call for revolution against the authorities of México. On this day Mexicans all over the world celebrate México’s independence from Spanish rule.  September 16th (Dieciséis de septiembre,) is the Mexican Independence Day and the most important non-religious holiday in Mexico.
