European Water Polo Championships Barcelona 2018. 14th to 28th July 2018. Barcelona welcomes the world's best waterpolo teams. 12 female and 16 male teams will compete at the  Olympic pools of Montjuïc in July 2018 . The European Water Polo Championships Barcelona 2018 are at the Bernat Picornell swimming pools on Montjuic hill in Barcelona. This pool was built in 1969 to host the 1970 European Aquatics Championships (swimming, diving and water polo) and was also used for the 1992 Olympic games as part of Barcelona's Olympic venues. In the women's competition Spain are a top favorite and are in Group B with Hungary, Russia, Turkey, Serbia and Germany. The Spanish women will open their group at the Bernat Picornell pools against Hungary. In the men's tournament, the Spanish team are also in Group B with Montenegro, France and Malta. The men are in four groups of four teams.
