What's on in Barcelona August 2019?August is the traditional month for summer vacation in Spain. Hundreds of thousands of Spaniards pull down the shutters of their shops and homes and leave the cities for their annual summer vacation. The Festa Major de Gracia is the biggest of the many local neighbourhoods festivals in Barcelona. Around 22 streets and plazas in Gracia are wonderfully decorated by the street residents and there is a full programme of live music concerts and activities for residents and visitors alike to enjoy. Visitors are welcomed by the local residents, but please respect the decorations and the neighbours. Circuit Festival on 8th to 10th Augusut is an international Gay and Lesbian event in Barcelona with many pre-parties, parties, concerts and other leisure, arts and sports activities. For music lovers check out the concerts in this years San Miguel MASiMAS Festival, which is an annual series of concerts in August bringing world class music to many Barcelona clubs and concert venues. As usual there are many star acts in August 2019 at Cap Roig festival which is on the Costa Brava. about 2 hours north of Barcelona and to get there a car is the best option. For the humid summer evenings in August in Barcelona there are many outdoor concert opportunies in the city. Musica als Parcs is a series of free open air jazz and classical concerts throughout the month of Augustat some of Barcelona's nicest parks. For smaller more intimate concerts try the summer night al fresco jazz concerts on the roof terraces of three of the most famous buildings in Barcelona designed by Gaudí. La Pedrera building has live jazz concerts on its roof-terrace in July - and you can experience rooftop concerts called Magic Nights on the roof of Casa Batllo building. Palau Güell also offers a series of outdoor live concerts on Thursday nights in different styles on the lovely roof terrace of Palau Güell building in July. FC Barcelona games August 2019 In August you can see the Barça's stars and the new team signings at Camp Nou stadium at the traditional Joan Gamper Trophy on Sunday 4th August 2019. The pool with the best views of the city is the Olympic diving pool on Montjuic hill, but there are many other indoor and oudoor swimming pools in Barcelona. You can find very nice beaches both north and south of Barcelona some of which are reachable by the coast trains. The Costa Brava coast is stunning and is 2 hours north of Barcelona, but there are no direct trains to the Costa Brava because of the rugged cliff terrain, so to visit the Costa Brava it's best to rent a car or take a bus from Estacio de Nord bus station - or if you want to avoid parking problems and transport hassle, then book a Costa Brava day tour. If you are in town for a few days then we also recommend a half day trip to the very scenic Montserrat mountain near Barcelona or to the Pyrenees mountains and Andorra.
