The European Super Cup is the title played for by the winners of the Champions league and the UEFA Cup. In 2009 FC Barcelona plays against Ukrainian UEFA champions Shakhtar Donetsk, meet on Friday night in Monaco to claim the European Super Cup which will be their 5th title in 2009 following the Spanish Cup, the Spanish League, the Champions League and the Spanish Super Cup. If they win tonight it will be Barça’s seventh European Super Cup.

One of the stars of Shakhtar Donetsk is Dmytro Chygrynskyy, playing in defence. His performance tonight is of particular interest to Barca fans after the announcement that last week that he will be playing for FC Barcelona this season.  No doubt all eyes will be on him. Most of Shakhtar’s other leading lights are foreigners, mainly Brazilians.
