Sitges Film Festival 2017. Film festival 'SITGES 17 - International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia' celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2017. The Sitges film festival is one of Spain's oldest film festivals dating back to 1968. The SITGES Film Festival is considered the most important global fantasy film festival presenting the best films and awards in the genre. In 2017 Sitges Film Festival welcomes an exceptional guest, Susan Sarandon and has Guillermo del Toro as its patron and presents the director William Friedkin with the Grand Honorary Award. Sitges Film Festival transport. There is usually a special Fantàstic Train shuttle train from Barcelona to Sitges for the film festival which operates every night during the festival departing from Sitges at 01:30 am.

How to get to Sitges from Barcelona

Sitges is a popular and exclusive sea-side resort located about 45 kilometers south of Barcelona in Catalonia, Spain. Sitges is well known for the Sitges Film Festival in October and the Sitges Carnival in February. Sitges also offers visitors a very nice selection of beaches, nightspots, and historical sites.

Getting to Sitges from Barcelona

By car
The C-32 tollroad (before A-16) connects Sitges with Barcelona in 30 minutes. You can also take the free coastal road, which is very scenic but has many bends, so passengers can become car sick!

By bus
Bus company Mon-bus operates buses from Barcelona and from Barcelona airport to Sitges

By train
Sitges is under between 35 and 45 minutes from Barcelona by R2 south line train. The railway company is called Renfe. The trains connections are called Cercanias/Rodalies: The trains to Sitges are on the R2 south line which departs from stations in the center of Barcelona to outlying suberbs of Barcelona and towns nearby. Regional trains to Sitges leave every 15 minutes from various stations in Barcelona including Passeig de Gracia (currently undergoing renovation), Catalunya or Sants: Price for a return ticket around 10 euros.
