Pictures Arenas de BarcelonaArenas de Barcelona is a former bull fighting ring in Barcelona. Empty for decades it was reborn as a fabulous shopping mall featuring a 360º roof-top skywalk terrace with panoromic city views. The Arenas de Barcelona shopping center features a variety of shops, restaurants, and entertainment options. The rooftop offers panoramic views of the city, making it a popular spot for visitors. The entire facade of Las Arenas bull ring was raised one level and a roof top cupola with an open terrace was added to create a sky-walk and a concert and theatre space in the dome.   Las Arenas was built in 1900 and originally designed by architect Augusto Font y Carreras. It had room for 16.000 bullfighting fans. Bullfighting is now banned in Barcelona but can still be experienced in other parts of Spain.  Article continues below ads

The monument was originally erected in 1919 as a tribute to the four stripes on the Catalan flag. The columns were designed by the architect Puig i Cadafalch and were intended to symbolize the four bars of the Senyera, the Catalan flag.
