After 5 years this popular event will not take place in 2013. The night festival Montjuïc de Nit (also known as "la nit blanca") was a free annual cultural event inviting everyone to enjoy the museums, theatres, parks, gardens and sports facilities on Montjuïc hill in Barcelona during the evening. In 2012 20 mini-festivals on Montjuic hill in 10 locations were presented by the 20 biggest music festivals of Barcelona including Primavera Sound, Hipnotek,Sonar, Barnasants, De Cajón!, Cruïlla BCN, Mas y Mas, BAM and more. Also on the Montjuic de Nit programme were free museum visits and many other fun activities between 22.00 and 04.00. Admission was Free to all events and concerts. The reason for the cancellation in 2013 was lack of funding. How to get to Montjuic Castle Barcelona Montjuic Castle 'Castell de Montjuïc' in Barcelona is located on the highest point of the Montjuic hill which is the hill that can be seen from from the city center on the south coast of Barcelona on the way to Barcelona airport. Montjuic castle overlooks the sea and Barcelona city from an altitude of 170 meters / 550 feet and has superb views of Barcelona city and the port area. The castle is a former military fort that was handed back to the city in 2008 by the army. Montjuic castle is now for a variety of cultural events among others the Merce Festival. Montjuic castle is open to the public and admission price is around €5, which includes access to castle cistern and some cells.
