Hotel tips Barcelona - safe - quiet - central - inexpensive hotels in Barcelona

Hotel tips Barcelona - safe - quiet - central - inexpensive hotels in Barcelona

Updated November 2023

If you are looking for a hotel in Barcelona that is safe to walk to/from downtown, near public transport, quiet at night for sleeping and of course clean, comfortable and inexpensive, then consider these three hotels.

The best area, in our opion, that meets all the above criteria would be to look for a 3 star hotel that in the Eixample district but a few blocks from Plaza Catalunya.

Plaza Catalunya is Barcelona's downtown central square. It is bordered by the Eixample district and also by the medieval district neighbourhoods of El Gotico and El Raval. But in the summer the gothic area will be more crowded and noisy and hot, so a nice mid-range hotel in Eixample near Plaza Catalunya is a good choice.

The advantage of of hotel in the Eixample district but near Plaza Catalunya is that you will be in the downtown area, close to all transport lines, walking distance from some top sights and in a safe area.

That said, there aren't many quiet streets near Plaza Catalunya, but if you request a quiet room at the back you should get a good nights sleep.

Remember to be careful of pickpockets in the metro and near popular top 10 tourist attractions.

Here are three hotels that might suit you well:

Hotel HCC Taber

Hotel_HCC_TABER_900x506

Hotel HCC Taber 3 star. Rated Very Good by guest reviews on Booking.com. Price are mid-range. Admittedly this hotel is on a very busy road, but it most noisy during rush hour. That said, guests are overwhelmingly positive about its large, clean rooms, great service and good breakfast. In the street facing rooms, you might consider using a white-noise app, if you are a light sleeper because you will probably hear some traffic noise at night, but you could ask for a quiet room at the back to solve that problem. Guests love that this hotel is very central. It's only 8 minutes’ walk from central Barcelona’s Plaza Catalunya. Also what guests love is that its a lovely Modernist building designed by famous architecht Domènech i Montaner, who also designed the amazing Palau de la Música Catalana and other structures in Barcelona. Guests praise the big, air-conditioned rooms all with free Wi-Fi. Also popular is the buffet breakfast for its wide range of dishes and à-la-carte options. There's a snack bar and room service. The Ramblas street is a 10 to 15 minutes’ walk from the hotel, and Gaudí’s iconic must-see buildings Casa Batlló and La Pedrera are about a 10-minute walk on shopping street Passeig de Gracia. Airport buses leave from Plaza de Catalunya, which is very convenient and a popular way to get to the airport. The hotel location is in Eixample area which is popular for being safe and with many shops and cafes. BOOK here
